In communities across Ireland a host of wide-ranging celebratory activities will celebrate and promote nursing home care during Nursing Homes Week 2015! Nursing home residents, their relatives and friends, staff and wider communities will acclaim the outstanding, life enhancing health and social care provided by outstanding, dedicated staff within nursing homes in our local communities.

The Nursing Homes Support Scheme
A Fair Deal

The purpose of the Scheme is to provide financial support for people assessed as needing long-term nursing home care. The scheme is founded on the core principles that long-term care should be affordable and that a person should receive the same level of State support whether they choose a public, voluntary or private nursing home. Since the 27th October 2009, the Nursing Homes Support Scheme is the single funded means of accessing long-term nursing home care for all new entrants.

The Scheme is administered by the HSE. The application form for the scheme and a list of the HSE Nursing Home Support Offices can be obtained by clicking on the link below.

NHI Resident Choice Campaign

Resident Choice, a national awareness campaign, is being undertaken by Nursing Homes Ireland to advise the general public of a person's right to choose the nursing home of their choice should they require the dedicated care and social support of nursing homes. The campaign will also advise of support and advice Nursing Homes Ireland can provide in respect of key questions faced by persons considering nursing home care.

Alzheimers Tea Day

The Holy Family Nursing Home will host an Alzheimers Tea Day on the 1st May 2014

Tea Day is a national day of celebration to honour the memories of people affected by Alzheimer's. Come together at the Holy Family Nursing Home to drink tea, eat cake, have a chat and take part in raffles...
and crucially, to raise badly needed funds for life-changing local Alzheimer services.

Inter-Nursing Home/Inter-Agency Table Quiz

Residents of the Holy Family Nursing Home will take part in the Inter-Nursing Home table quiz in Loughrea on Saturday 22nd March 2014, where other nursing homes and senior citizen groups will also be in attendance. This outing for residents should be very enjoyable and interesting.

The Holy Family Nursing Home are proud to be participating in this years National Music day on the 21st of June, we will be hosting a live music event for our residents & would love family and friends to come and participate.

Galway nursing home takes top prize at National Q Mark Awards

National Q Mark awards Dinner

A Galway nursing home was honoured for its commitment to quality and excellence at this year's National Q Mark Awards. The Holy Family Nursing Home in Killimor took the award for 'Best Nursing Home in the Country' after seeing off very strong competitors in the previous rounds, and then beating the best of the best to be proclaimed the victorious winners at the Awards Night, held in Dublin's Burlington Hotel.

Galway Nursing Home sets its sights on gold at National Q Mark Awards

The Holy Family Nursing Home in Killimor, Ballinasloe has beaten off stiff competition from hundreds of Irish nursing homes in their bid to go for gold at this year's National Q Mark Awards. The prestigious nomination will see Patrick Fahey, the nursing home's manager and his team, walk the red carpet at this years's Q Mark ceremony, which takes place on September 28 at Dublin's Burlington Hotel. The Holy Family was nominated in one of the most prestigious categories – the national title of Nursing Home of the Year.
